Katie Borthwick began her training in Kent, Washington although, she started dancing in the womb. She studied ISTD and RAD syllabi for nine years, receiving honors marks under the direction of Sandi Bacca. Katie later earned her B.A. in dance from the University of Washington in 2005, and was educated by esteemed professors Mark Haim, Betsy Cooper, and Jurg Koch among others. During her time at the UW she collaboratively founded the Huskie’s Dance Team, and danced in the student run University of Washington Ballet Company. Katie has trained in music, acting, and musical theater, and briefly worked for the Disney Company, along with recently appearing in locally filmed music videos. She has taught dance at community and fitness centers and the YMCA where she was certified as a group exercise instructor. In 2010, Katie joined Sixth Day Dance Company and had the privilege of working and performing alongside adults with developmental disabilities. In 2013-14 she danced with 127th Street. Katie is currently working toward earning her STOTT Pilates certification and is assistant teaching for the Sixth Day Dance First Program. She is excited to be in her third season with Intrepidus.
